■ negotiating and resolving legal issues in prime brokerage, clearing and other key contracts;
■ directing outside litigation counsel and monitoring all litigation affecting company;
■ conducting internal investigations;
■ identifying and mitigating risk and company exposure, especially those arising from offshore hedge funds and foreign banks;
■ leading meetings of senior management on operational and compliance issues; and
■ training staff on key compliance and legal issues.
